The Golden Knights hosted the LA Kings in pursuit of a franchise-best nine-game win streak and we were able to give away tickets and ride on the Zamboni to one lucky fan. The game didn’t begin as planned for Vegas as Anze Kopitar netted two goals in the 1st period. The Golden Knights struggled to get going on offense and trailed 2-0 after the opening 20 minutes.
The Kings stretched their lead to 3-0 midway through the 2nd period. The Golden Knights were awarded a power play and quickly took advantage. Shea Theodore wristed a shot into LA’s net getting within two. The Kings got their three-goal lead back late in the period scoring a power-play goal of their own. The visiting team held a 4-1 edge after 40 minutes.
Trailing by three goals the Golden Knights attempted to make a comeback on multiple 3rd-period power plays. However, LA continued to frustrate Vegas and killed off the penalties. The Kings closed out the game 4-1 and ended the Golden Knights eight-game win streak.
Vegas’ record drops to 36-23-8 but still remains in 1st place with 80 points. The Golden Knights get a day off and prepare for the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night. The game is scheduled for 7p.
