The Golden Knights final preseason game was a sneak peek to the highly anticipated season opener against the San Jose Sharks. It was a quick 1st period with neither team scoring in the first 17 minutes. William Carrier opened up the scoring with a nice deflection past San Jose goaltender Martin Jones for the 1-0 Vegas lead.

The Golden Knights would extend their lead 2-0 on a 2nd-period power play goal by Jimmy Schuldt. After matching roughing penalties, Vegas took advantage of the open ice, and Jonathan Marchessault made 3-0. Mark Stone would add a fourth on a little flick shot past Jones.

Vegas began the 3rd period with a four-goal lead which the Sharks would cut into early. San Jose trailed Vegas 4-1 after Danil Yurtaykin scored with a nifty backhand. However, Reilly Smith would regain the four-goal lead on Vegas’ third power play goal. The 3rd period was highlighted by 20 penalties which helped bring the game total to 114 PIM. The Golden Knights would go on to win a wild exhibition game 5-1.

The Golden Knights conclude the preseason with a record of (5-2). The 2019-2020 regular season begins Wednesday night in Las Vegas against the Sharks.
