The Golden Knights hosted the San Jose Sharks for final exhibition game of the preseason. Vegas forward Pavel Dorofeyev opened the scoring in the opening five minutes of the contest. Former Silver Knight Jimmy Schuldt found the equalizer three minutes later. The Sharks took a 2-1 advantage but VGK’s Alexander Holtz scored on a nice feed from Tomas Hertl to tie the game.
Dorofeyev picked up his second goal of the game early in the middle frame. It was the only score of the period and gave the Golden Knights a one-goal advantage going into the second intermission.
San Jose quickly evened the score 3-3 on their first shift of the final 20 minutes. Moments later captain Mark Stone regained the lead on a power play opportunity. Dorofeyev added another midway through the period picking up a hat trick in the process. The Sharks kept biting and eventually took a 6-5 lead and held on for the meaningless win.
Vegas finishes the preseason with a 3-3-0 record as they now prepare for the regular season. Opening night against the Avalanche is slated for Wednesday night at 7 PM from The Fortress.
