Lucky Opportunity Village Participant Headed to Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals

LAS VEGAS (June 13, 2023) – Thanks to a generous donation from Adam Kutner, Injury Attorneys, Reggie Daniel from Opportunity Village is headed to watch the Vegas Golden Knights take on the Florida Panthers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight. Daniel’s name was drawn at random after the donation was made to Opportunity Village by Adam Kutner’s law firm.

“We are incredibly thankful to be able to offer this special experience to one of the people we serve at Opportunity Village. Reggie is a longtime member of our community and a huge sports fan, so the tickets donated by Adam Kutner were a very welcome surprise,” said Chuck Neuwohner, chief programs officer at Opportunity Village.

Daniel and his mom, Regina, will be in attendance at T-Mobile Arena during Game 5 cheering VGK on to victory. As an employee with Opportunity Village’s OV Cleans team, Daniel often works at OV’s Engelstad Campus at 6050 S. Buffalo Drive. He has been a member of the Opportunity Village community since 2009 and is an avid VGK fan.

Recap from Game 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals

The Golden Knights and Florida Panthers clashed in an exciting showdown at T-Mobile Arena for the Stanley Cup Finals. Vegas capitalized on two first-period power plays, resulting in goals from both teams. Florida struck first with a shorthanded wrap-around goal, courtesy of an impressive effort. However, Jonathan Marchessault answered back on the man-advantage, leveling the score. The first intermission arrived with the game tied at 1-1.

The second period saw Florida pushing the pace, but Adin Hill, made a remarkable sprawling paddle save to maintain the 1-1 deadlock. Shea Theodore later showcased his skills by skillfully maneuvering the blueline and wristing in a go-ahead goal for Vegas. However, the Panthers managed to even the score with a mere 10 seconds remaining in the period, setting the stage for an intene final frame.

The third period commenced with both teams tightening their defensive play, limiting each other’s offensive chances. Seven minutes into the period, Zach Whitecloud pounced on a loose puck and gave the home team a 3-2 advantage. As the clock wound down, Mark Stone intercepted an errant puck flip and rifled it into Florida’s net, extending Vegas’ lead to two goals. Taking full advantage of a double-minor power play, the Golden Knights skillfully ate away the remaining time and sealed the victory with an empty-net goal.

With a final score of 5-2, the Golden Knights seized a 1-0 series lead over the Panthers.

In Game 2, the Golden Knights aimed to secure a two-game series advantage. The early stages of the period saw impressive saves from both goaltenders, maintaining a tight contest. At the seven-minute mark, Vegas drew a penalty, presenting Jonathan Marchessault with an opportunity on the power play, which he capitalized on. Ten minutes later, Alec Martinez flipped a puck into the net, extending Vegas’ lead to 2-0.

Moving into the second frame, the Golden Knights wasted no time further solidifying their advantage, quickly establishing a commanding 3-0 lead. Nic Roy contributed to the offensive onslaught with his second goal of the postseason. Moments later, Brett Howden dazzled with a spectacular weaving highlight reel goal, adding to the Golden Knights’ growing lead.

The third period began with an unfortunate bounce finding its way into the Vegas net, resulting in a quick goal for Florida. However, it didn’t take long for the Golden Knights to respond, as Marchessault tallied his second goal of the night. William Karlsson orchestrated a setup for Michael Amadio, who tapped the puck into the net, further increasing Vegas’ lead to 6-1. With victories in both Games 1 and 2, the Golden Knights held a commanding 2-0 series advantage and were now only two wins away from claiming the Stanley Cup. The action would now shift to South Florida for the next two contests, with Game 3 scheduled for 5 PM on Thursday.
