Vegas Golden Knights vs Chicago Blackhawks 1-8-2022

The night began with a wonderful video tribute to Blackhawks goaltender and Vegas fan favorite Marc-Andre Fleury. Vegas didn’t take long to get going as Ben Hutton scored his first of the season five minutes into the game.  

Chicago picked up the pace in the middle frame scoring one early and one late. Fleury stopped all 12 second period shots to hold a 2-1 Blackhawks advantage. 

Fleury silenced Vegas’ offense in the final period to preserve a 2-1 Chicago victory. The former VGK goaltender was sharp in net stopping 30 of 31 total shots on net. 

The Golden Knights record drops to 23-14-1 falling 2-1 to Fleury’s Blackhawks. Vegas next faces the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. Puck drop is set for 7 PM.

Vegas Golden Knights vs New York Rangers 1-6-2022

 

The Golden Knights hosted the New York Rangers and welcomed back former coach Gerard Gallant and forward Ryan Reaves. New York took control early taking the first four out five shots of the game. Both teams were awarded power play opportunities which Vegas’ Jonathan Marchessault took advantage of. The forward flipped in his 17th of the season taking the first lead of the game.

New York evened the score 1-1 in the opening minute of the second period. Vegas responded later in the frame receiving goals from Mark Stone and Mattias Janmark. The Golden Knights took a 3-1 advantage into the second intermission.

Vegas’ offense kept firing and and the puck continued to go in New York’s net. Brett Howden made it a three goal game and Marchessault stretched the score to 5-1 with his second of the game.

The Golden Knights record improves to 23-13-1 defeating the Rangers 5-1. Vegas will next face former goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury and the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night. Puck drop is set for 7P.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Nashville Predators 1-4-2022

Nashville took control early on in the game spending extended amounts of time in the Vegas’ end. In his NHL debut, Golden Knights goaltender Logan Thompson kept the Predators off the board with some timely saves. Vegas couldn’t generate much of their own offense and the period ended in a scoreless tie.

The Predators continued to pressure the Golden Knights and it paid off immediately. Nashville broke the scoreless tie 2:41 into the second period and added another four minutes later. Vegas was awarded a late power play but failed to convert. Nashville took a 2-0 advantage into the second intermission.

The Predators took a 3-0 lead six minutes into the final frame but later the Golden Knights answered back. After two failed power plays William Karlsson scored his 4th of the season to get Vegas on the board. Shea Theodore got Vegas closer but the Golden Knights couldn’t even the score.

The Golden Knights record drops to 22-13-1 falling to the Predators 3-2. Vegas will next face the New York Rangers on Thursday night, welcoming back former coach Gerard Gallant and forward Ryan Reaves. Puck drop is set for 7P.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Winnipeg Jets 1-2-2022

The Golden Knights got off to a great start against the Winnipeg Jets. Vegas outshot Winnipeg 22 to 10 in the opening twenty minutes and took a multiple goal lead. Forwards Michael Amadio and Evengii Dadonov both scored giving the Golden Knights a 2-0 first intermission edge.

Winnipeg responded quickly into the middle frame tying the game 2-2. The Jets scored two goals in a :20 second span, evening the game after forty minutes.

The visiting team continued to control the game, adding two more to make it four unanswered goals. Mattias Janmark capitalized on a turnover to get Vegas within one late in the final period. Janmark later evened the game in dramatic style with :09 seconds remaining in regulation. Winnipeg ended the game in overtime but Vegas earned a point in the standings.

The Golden Knights record drops to 22-12-1 falling to the Jets 5-4 in overtime. Vegas will next face the Nashville Predators at home on Tuesday night. Puck drop is set for 7P.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Anaheim Ducks 12-31-2021

 

The Golden Knights took control early in the game scoring twice on the Ducks in the first period. Nic Roy opened the scoring and Adam Brooks doubled Vegas’ lead.

Mattias Janmark scored the only goal of a messy second period. Both teams were handed a dozen penalties in the middle frame for roughing and fighting.

The game settled down in the third but Anaheim spoiled Vegas’ shutout scoring in the waning seconds of the contest.

The Golden Knights record improves to 22-12-0 defeating the Ducks 3-1. Vegas will face off after the New Year on Sunday against the Winnipeg Jets. Puck drop is set for 1P.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Tampa Bay Lightning 12-21-2021

 

The Golden Knights hosted reigning champion Tampa Bay Lightning before the NHL pauses for a handful of days. Tampa only needed six minutes to take the first lead of the game. After a scary collision, Vegas captain Mark Stone came back out and tied the game on the power play.

The offense picked for both teams in the middle frame. Stone scored again 1:41 into the period to give Vegas their first lead of the game. Nic Roy stretched the Golden Knights lead to 3-1 shaking Norris trophy defenseman Victor Hedman. Tampa woke up and tied the game on two straight shots. After forty minutes, the game was tied up 3-3.

The Lightning took the lead late into a third period power play. Vegas had some chances throughout the final twenty minutes but couldn’t tie the game.

The Golden Knights record drops to 20-12-0 falling 4-3 to the Lightning. Vegas and the rest of the NHL will get some time off and return to the ice after Christmas. Until further notice from the league, the Golden Knights are scheduled to play the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night. Puck drop is set for 7P.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Minnesota Wild 12-12-2021

The Golden Knights looked to shake off Friday’s loss by hosting the top seeded Minnesota Wild. Vegas took the first lead of the game with Zach Whitecloud’s fourth goal of the season. Both offenses kept generating, but Minnesota tied the game with one second left in the period. The game was tied 2-2 heading into the intermission.

Minnesota took their first lead of the game :09 seconds into the middle frame. Whitecloud evened the score on his second goal of the game and Max Pacioretty regained Vegas’ lead scoring his tenth of 2021-22. The home team held on to a 4-3 edge after two periods of action.

The Wild forced a tie early in the final period but Mark Stone gave the Golden Knights a 5-4 advantage with their second PP goal of the game. Alex Pietrangelo sealed the win with a late empty net score.

The Golden Knights record improves to 16-11-0 after defeating the Wild 6-4. Vegas hits the road for four game East Coast road trip. Their first stop will be in Boston to face the Bruins. Puck drop is scheduled for 4P.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Philadelphia Flyers 12-10-2021

 

Philadelphia took the early lead at T-Mobile Arena, scoring the game’s first goal 4:20 into the opening twenty minutes. It took a while but the relentless Golden Knights tied the game with :49 remaining in the period.

The Flyers regained their lead on a rebound after a flurry of shots on starter Laurent Brossoit. Trailing 2-1, Vegas again tied the game late in the period when Max Pacioretty scored his eighth goal of the season. After 40 minutes the game was locked up 2-2.

Vegas quickly trailed by two after Philadelphia scored two unanswered in the first ten minutes of the period. Pacioretty added a late power play goal but the Flyers went on to win 4-3 at T-Mobile Arena, breaking their ten game winless streak.

The Golden Knights record drops to 15-11-0 after falling to the Flyers. Vegas finishes their homestand with a matchup against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday evening. Puck drop is scheduled for 7P.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Dallas Stars: 12-8-2021

The Golden Knights came out firing the puck, outshooting the Stars 10-5 in the first period. Each team was awarded a power play and only Dallas was able to cash in to take a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

Mark Stone tied the game immediately in the middle period, scoring his second goal of the season :19 seconds in. The Stars would respond with back to back power play goals, making them 3/3 on the man advantage. Late in the period Jonathan Marchessault gave Vegas life with his 11th of the season.

The two traded goals midway through the final frame but Stone and his linemates would come through again. The captain tied the game with five minutes remaining and Max Pacioretty broke the tie a minute later.

The Golden Knights record improves to 15-10-0 with their 5-4 comeback win against Dallas. Vegas will next face the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night. Puck drop against the Flyers is scheduled for 7P.

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Calgary Flames 12-5-2021

 

The Golden Knights and Flames matched up for their first time since the 2019-20 season. Both teams came out hard, creating a playoff type atmosphere. Max Pacioretty gave Vegas a 1-0 lead late in the first period.

The second period was tighter with less chances for both offenses. The Golden Knights fought off a late penalty to carry their 1-0 lead into the second intermission.

Center Nic Roy quickly doubled Vegas’ lead 1:49 into the final frame. Both teams traded goals but the Golden Knights held on to win. Robin Lehner was sharp in net stopping 24 of 26 shots to preserve a 3-2 Golden Knights victory.

The Golden Knights record improves to 14-10-0 after defeating the first place Flames. Vegas will next host the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night. Puck drop against the Stars is scheduled for 7P.
